Back From The Motherfucking Dead
It looks as though this here blog is now just over a year old. Pretty exciting. Of course it has been over a month since I have posted anything. To be perfectly honest I have had tons of stuff going on and haven't really wanted to talk about any of it. So what's been going on you ask? Well here goes:
1. I am changing my career path yet again. I am (if I am admitted that is) going to be attending Mary Washington's James Monroe Professional Center come January. I will be pursuing a Master's in Education which I will one day use to teach Government and History/Social Science to high school kids who will inevitably hate the subject matter and me. Sorry friends who wanted to see me pursue graphic design, while enjoy it, its not really what I want to do for a career. Before any of you ask, I will not be moving back to Fredericksburg but rather commuting from Richmond approximately 2 days a week. I will be taking the Praxis I examination on September 21, which I need to a) pass and b) do well on for admittance to the program. I have been spending my time studying for this, writing essays for the application etc... Thus one of the reasons you have not heard anything from me.
The other reason you have not heard anything from me ...
2. I have to have surgery. October 3 at 8 am to be exact. I have an Inguinal Hernia. For those of you who have no idea what this means, I have a lump the size of a ping-pong ball directly above my genitals. Sometimes it swells a lot and hurts too. How's that for sexy? The mass itself is actually my intestine poking through a hole that has formed in my abdominal wall. I had a double Inguinal Hernia when I was 9 and now I have at least 1 (possibly 2) now. Apparently there have been great advances in the procedure. Instead of making a very large incision they will be going in through my belly button, and putting an index card sized mesh patch over my abdominal wall on the inside. This will keep my intestines from poking through the hole in the future. Pretty cool huh? The pain and healing time for this procedure are considerably less than the surgery I had as a child, so I should only miss a couple of days of work. They will be making 4 incisions, 3 of them will be below my waist (5 mm in size), and the one at my belly button will be 12 mm. I hope that the scars look cool. If not I will have to cover them up with some really small tattoos. Won't that be a shame.
